Filmmaker - Autumn Sansom

Rebecca and her biological mother Jill Hawkins, PhD are the first adopted person and biological mother team to make a feature length documentary about Nancy Verrier’s landmark book, The Primal Wound, which is in it’s 15th printing and translated in 7 languages.

The book The Primal Wound was first published in 1993. Adopted people often refer to it as their guidebook, though a lot of people have never heard of it. The author, Nancy Verrier, M.A., raised both an adopted daughter as well as a biological daughter, and was able to compare her children’s behavior. She became so fascinated with her adopted daughter’s response to being relinquished, that she changed careers. She became a psychologist and wrote her thesis about the separation of a mother and a child. She called this separation the primal wound.

Our communities thrive on collaboration and support, especially when it comes to uplifting small businesses and nonprofits. We're thrilled to sponsor "Fog Lift," an exclusive event dedicated to shedding light on the journey of adoption. Through the artistic talents of Rebecca Autumn Sansom, this event aims to advocate for change by challenging misconceptions and fostering healing through performance and film. Together, we create a powerful alliance within our communities.

The main objective of this gathering is to provide a nurturing environment where adopted people’s stories can be shared and validated. By sharing our experiences, we not only build connections with others but also work towards dispelling harmful myths and embracing essential truths about ourselves. This process is crucial for healing the wounds often associated with adoption. We invite you to join us on this collective journey towards healing, where every story contributes to our growth and understanding.
